Today we ran a day of workshops at Oregon City Service Learning Academy!
Today we ran a day of workshops at Oregon City Service Learning Academy. We got to visit 5 of the math classes and lead introductory workshops in computer programming. A few students had done a bit of programming before, but for most this was the first time they tried programming.
Brandon, Emily and Will joined us as well on this school visit. The feedback was very positive. Some students didn’t think they were going to like coding or didn’t want to try, but many were won over by the end of the workshop, with several students even coming back for a later class to keep going.
In this school Dillon is one of the math teachers and is looking for ways to integrate coding and math as a way to better engage his students. He has a lot of creative ideas on how to make that work and CodeHS is a great tool to help him do that!
Thanks again to Dillon and Andrew at OCSLA for hosting us for a great day of workshops!
