We met with San Diego School District ran a workshop at Olympian High School, and drove to Phoenix!
Today was another busy day on Karel’s USA road trip. We started off meeting at the San Diego Unified school district. We spoke with some administrators about their computer science curriculum and the direction they hope it goes, and how CodeHS can be a part of that plan.
Next up, we headed over to Olympian High School, all the way in the southern tip of California for a lunchtime coding workshop. Olympian High School had a very new campus, with many buildings that gave the overall atmosphere a college feel. Our visit was arranged by the engineering teacher who had been in industry for a while and started teaching an after-school coding club. The school doesn’t have programming classes but hopes to bring them in soon.
We got to introduce the students to CodeHS with a workshop, and got great feedback. All the students did a great job!
After our workshop we drove over to Phoenix to continue the USA tour!
